Scientists, activists and farmer’s associations demand removal of a GM researcher.

The Alliance for Sustainable and Holistic Agriculture has sought action against Dr. K. C. Bansal, head of India’s gene bank for making a fraudulent claim on filing a patent on GM brinjal to obtain a leading award in 2009.

A letter was sent to agriculture minister Sharad Pawar condemning Dr. Bansal’s actions as unethical and unscientific and requested that the Indian Council of Agriculture Research institute an inquiry into the patent claim.

India’s Supreme Court recently recommended a 10 year moratorium on field testing of GM crops and the actions of fraudulent claims by India’s leading GM scientists support the vital necessity of the moratorium.
